To All Intelligent Cine Goers 1.3

Movie :: Jet Li's - Fearless
Starring :: Jet Li, Betty Sun, Dong Yong, Shido Nakamura, Collin Chou
Directed by :: Ronnie Yu
Produced by :: Bill Kong, Jet Li, Ronnie Yu

Review ::
Jet Li. He loves to make movies which portrait him as the central character. And why wont he! He invests the much needed finances into them.

The movie is called Jet Li's Fearless. Its a real life adaptation of a real life character (am sorry, am still not good at remembering chinki names) and real life incidents (in main-land China).

The movie tells a story of this Master played by Li who loves to win! He fights and fights and fights, wins them all, entertains many, gets many disciples, looses more money than he makes. In the quest for power, Li becomes like a Dracula let loose, until after one fine fight the adopted son of another master chops off his family!! (his grandmaa & his daughter)
After such a mind boggling incident, Li tries to drown (die), but, like many other uncountable movies, is rescued by other chinki mates brothers!
Other Filmy Ironies follow... Need not specify them.
Comes back to his town after many many years of pointless farming, and kicks some more butts.
This time, he feels he should let the opponents capable enough so that they can clean their own crap!
More filmy crap follows.
Dies in the end... Of course smiling!

Even though the movie was shot in 2006 A.D., the fight sequences resemble those shot in late 1900s... The amazing thing is, how were Chinks able to shoot in such an advance stance in those days!

On the whole its a good movie. Wont feel bored to skip the dialogues ;)

Thats it for now...
Signing off,

To All Intelligent Cine-Goers 1.2

First of all I would like to confess some thing.
I am basically a Gujju from a Gujju school with English medium as minorities. Never during in my school days I wanted to watch any Hollywood movie OR any movie except for Bollywood movies, unless they were action packed.
Now, in my post school days I was in Mithibai College, well known for its no compulsory attendance policy. Thus, I used to frequent to my dads shop to aid him (at least, I used to pretend to. :P)
Now, one fine day, I hear that a brown man (an Indian) in the US of A has directed a Hollywood movie! I was pretty exited to hear this, and to my surprise, the movie was being screened in Central Plaza, 5 mins walk from our shop.
So, I decide to watch it in a lunch hour, by my-self, alone, and to my surprise I was alone in the theater too, except for four lucky couples who managed to get the four corners of the balcony and there was no body else in the hall, no kidding...
So, I am there, greatly eating my burger and sipping on my Pepsi when it all begun.

I am not exaggerating when I say that M. Night Shyamalan is the best Indian director I have seen.
If any of you guys watched the movie like I did, I bet it would be really difficult to control not wetting your pants.

Basically, the movie is a horror flick which narrates the story of a kid who can mingle with the people who are in their after-life, aare yaar, of course the ones who have some un-finished business.
It’s about this man, who is a child psychiatrist.
And, believe me, its all about sound and how much you are into the movie. At no point the movie bores one.

This movie opened my mind to the talkative movies, especially the Hollywood ones. Now, at the present date, I have all the M. Night movies collection (except for The Lady in the Water, I don’t want to talk about it) in addition to > 250 movies.

This movie gets the full credit to all my collection and my interest in the Hollywood movies.

It’s a must see. I will never forget that day, the summer of 1999.

Signing off,

To All Intelligent Cine-Goers 1.0

Movie :: The Messenger- The Story of Joan of Arc (1999)
Cast :: Milla Jovovich, John Malkovich, Faye Dunaway & Dustin Hoffman.

Milla Jovavich, no arguments about her great physique or how good of an actor she is. She completely over-shadows all her performances till date.

John Malkovich, hmm, he delivers a nice performance, in fact, he acts so well that people can actually relate how power can change a persons behavior.
Faye Dunaway, again, nice performance. One can see a glimpse of a typical sasu-maa even though she is not playing one...

Dustin Hoffman, as usual. I wonder if this guy has ever done what I would like to call over-acting in any of his movies. He, without doubts does complete justice to his role in the film.

The movie gives a glimpse of Joan’s childhood, how innocent she is and what sort of thoughts cross her mind.
Movie proceeds with a rash incident in Joan’s life, which changes her outlook, her behavior & her thinking totally.
Now, Joan is firm on her belief that she is a messenger of God, who is sent to protect the French empire from the Britons.
Hmm, the movie is an excellent example of how a belief can change every thing. Every Thing... (of course the movie is inspired by the real life story)

I would like to put up a dialogue from the movie.
The plot shows a jury of high priests is in the process of verifying if Joan is really a messenger of God, thus, they (priests) ask her to perform some trick/magic or produce any sign which will confirm the same, hearing this, Joan replies with some arguments before mentioning the following:

"Give me an army.
Take me to Orléans.

And there you will see the sign that I was sent to make."

Then the movie shows what majority of the mortals call glore.
I would not like to disclose what happens towards the climax, of course all of us know its not going to be pretty.
The movie is extremely inspiring. When ever I watch it, I have this feeling, which makes every thing seem so simple.
It is just a matter of belief.

Mi signing off with one more short line by Joan, the maiden of France:
"All you have to do is what you're told.
What could be simpler than that?"
